Thieves stole a lot of money and jewelry from a store in downtown Los Angeles. Authorities are now working to find them.
Last weekend, burglars broke into a small family-run shop, named Love Jewels. It seems that they had been working on their plan for quite a long time. They dгg a tunnel from an abandoned theater located right next to the store. The store owner’s son, who asked not to be named, said he thinks the thieves worked at night, digging little by little until they could crawl inside.
He believed that it took them several weeks to make the tunnel. When the thieves got inside, they turned off the cameras and the alarm system and opened the safes. Most likely, they stayed in the store for five or six hours without anyone noticing.
The family says they lost everything — up to $20 million. The police haven’t confirmed that number but are still looking into the case.
Rita, the store’s owner, said they were left with nothing. She said their whole business was in that safe — every bit of money they had was tied up in gold.
