Olertis operates on a business model referred to as “The Lasting Legacy,” a unique way to operate in an outsourcing dominated and highly segmented industry. As a premier custom jewelry maker, we follow a master bench tradition which ties responsibility and accountability together in a single entity. In other words, we do not create rings or other custom jewelry pieces based on a generic formula. Every design is developed with precision, technical integrity, and an understanding of long-term durability — ensuring that each piece is not only visually exceptional, but crafted for everyday wear and meant to be treasured for generations.
As a client of Olertis, you never have to worry about your personalized jewelry being outsourced without your knowledge or consent; your project will not be farmed out to another unknown studio. By eliminating intermediaries, we ensure complete transparency, structural precision, and full accountability at every stage of the process.
You communicate directly with the professionals who design and craft your personalized jewelry, minimizing errors, miscommunication, and delays often associated with outsourced or multi-layered production models. At Olertis, our combined bench experience is over 35 years in bespoke fine jewelry, as opposed to the mass and semi-custom markets. We have produced more than 3,500 individual custom fine jewelry pieces and have developed a consistent and reliable production process.
With respect to our clients, this model is significant as it:
We work with remote clients from all U.S. states through a combination of photo updates, video reviews and online consultations. Every aspect of the design and production process remains within the control of a single team, whereas many local retail jewelers outsource the production of complex items.
Olertis uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) as an engineering tool and not simply as a creative drawing tool. When designing custom jewelry, we take into account how metals wear down, how loads are distributed on a piece of jewelry, the minimum thickness requirements for certain types of jewelry, and how much tolerance exists in setting stones. These parameters are calculated in order to produce jewelry that is designed to maintain its structural integrity for a prolonged period of time.
Beyond structural integrity, we treat comfort as a measurable and essential design element. When creating custom jewelry, we apply the principles of comfort fit, balance, interior geometry of the piece, and transition points where edges meet. This approach allows us to create jewelry that remains comfortable during work, travel, and everyday physical activity. It is designed for actual use, not simply for display or photographs.
Our experience working with gold and platinum includes creating complex designs and setting large, high-value stones in precious metals. Both processes require precise engineering decisions and a deep understanding of material behavior to ensure life-long strength and stability.
Our engineering-first approach to custom jewelry design provides consistent results, reduces the number of revisions, and increases the likelihood that the finished product will function flawlessly.
While technically correct designs are important to us, we also create sculpture and collectible pieces that are considered wearable art and valued for their durability and craftsmanship. Each design is evaluated based on how it would be worn in real-life situations and over a long period of time. This speaks to an American concern: Will my piece last through my active lifestyle and not just look good on Instagram?

Our process is organized in clearly defined stages: design, approval, production, and final quality assurance. Detailed documentation is maintained throughout the process to establish clarity around the timing and responsibilities involved in each stage. Labor, materials, and the complexity of the piece influence pricing, and there are no hidden or unexpected fees.
All center stones are certified by either the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Melee stones undergo rigorous internal quality control through vetted suppliers to authenticate the materials and avoid the expense of obtaining certification for each small stone.
Prior to casting the jewelry, clients are provided a 360-degree visual review of the completed design through photorealistic renderings and video reviews. This establishes a record of exactly what was approved prior to production.
Ownership rights and intellectual property for your custom jewelry design are clearly defined from the very beginning of our process. In addition, clients have full transparency regarding the rights they will have to the approved design, with no hidden restrictions or unexpected limitations.
Each piece of finished jewelry is shipped fully insured and requires a signature upon delivery to ensure safe receipt.
Client support extends beyond the sale of a piece of jewelry. Clients continue to receive service from Olertis post-delivery through adjustment guidance, maintenance advice, warranty support and consulting services. Many clients consider bespoke jewelry to be a long-term object of value.
We maintain a relationship similar to a house jeweler. We also retain records of design history, size, and stone information for each client. This facilitates safe and convenient future purchases of matching pieces or restorations. This continuity supports what clients mean when they seek a jeweler for life.
