The Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair (DJGF) is one of the most fascinating jewelry events held around the world. It has been held for 12 years in a row and feels like it’s only getting better. This year, it was held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi on October 8, by Informa Markets, one of the country’s major B2B event planners.

Just imagine more than 650 exhibitors and 700 brands under one roof and you’ll get a general idea of what it was like. From classical items to smooth modern designs, the attendees were able to witness over 150,000 pieces on display.

Platinum, gold, silver, pearls, diamonds, and colorful gemstones – was there even something they didn’t have? Interestingly, apart from the traditional pieces, the event featured many original and exotic works, which piqued the visitors’ interest.

The Silver Show in Hall no. 2 featuring a wide range of silver masterpieces was one of the fair’s spotlights. Moreover, let’s remember the stunning collection of gold, Polki, as well as diamond jewelry, where some of the biggest names in the natural diamond industry were thrust into the spotlight.

The opening of the fair was simply jaw-dropping. Top speakers like Nirupa Bhatt, a renowned gems and jewelry expert, and Pramod Derewala, Chairman of NGJIC, have honored attendees with their presence.

Ms. Bhatt was equally excited about the event, especially about the Retail Jewelers Guild Awards. “The air was just electric and we were amazed at how talented our designers were,” she said. Ms. Bhatt was particularly impressed by the organizers supporting women’s contributions through the ‘Shakti‘ initiative. According to her, “the perspectives of women are indispensable for ensuring the sector’s growth and sustainability.

Mr. Derewala shared his excitement about the fair and similar jewelry initiatives. Mr. Derewala gave his warmest regards to the event organizers who put silver and handcrafted pieces into the spotlight, carrying proudly the rich Indian heritage.

Yogesh Mudras, the Managing Director of Informa Markets, states that DJGF is “a microcosm of the vibrancy and innovation” that define India as a major jewelry exporter in the world. Keep in mind that the country’s jewelry sales reached 1.55 billion dollars in the summer of 2024, which means that India isn’t just participating in the global market, but actively influencing it.

Most discussions at the fair were about modern designs and innovative gem sourcing. The topics included “Celebrating Craftsmanship & Innovation,” “The Future of Responsible Sourcing: Challenges & Opportunities,” “Women in Power, Women Empower,” and “The Changing Landscape of the Jewellery Industry.” Among the panelists, one could see Navin Sadarangani, Hetal Vakil, Prerna Makharia, and many other jewelry trendsetters.

But just when you thought the event couldn’t get any better, the glamorous fashion show rolled out, demonstrating the latest collections from trailblazing jewelers. The already mentioned ‘Shakti’ initiative was the cherry on top, honoring the fascinating contributions of female jewelry designers. Along with Informa Markets in India’s Festivity of Business campaign, the Delhi Jewelry & Gem Fair was more than a special event – it was a social movement and one that celebrates innovation and mastery above shallow showmanship.
