Rio Tinto has introduced its 2024 Beyond Rare Tender, presenting polished fancy-shaded diamonds, which definitely can be named exceptional. The overall number of lots is 48.
According to Rio Tinto Minerals CEO Sinead Kaufman, only their mining enterprise can boast of such a striking range of hue-rich rocks. The Beyond Rare Tender illuminates the prestige of the Argyle Pink Diamonds brand, although the mine was shut down more than three years ago. It also pays tribute to the exceptional quality of diamonds produced by the Diavik mine. The steady demand for incredibly valuable earth-mined diamonds continues to affirm their worth.
The bidding event will take place on November 18, 2024. Those interested will be able to view the items for sale prior to the event at locations in Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Each stone from the collection Color Awakened is an exceptional find and is expected to attract the attention of real worshipers. It presents 76 rocks of 39.44 carats, including legacy pink and red stones from a now-closed mine in the Australian Continent and selections from the famous Canadian mine. Seven “Old Masters” obtained from the Argyle diamond mine are signature pieces of the collection. They are round brilliant-cut pink and red diamonds and the sizes vary from 0.60 to 2.63 carats. Some of these exquisite gems, whose origins can be traced to 1987, were acquired from private vaults. The company announced these details last week.
Except for the seven “Old Masters”, the collection offers such spotlights as 31 single diamonds of pink and violet hues and one rich purplish-red stone. Moreover, nine specially curated diamond sets include fascinating stones – a 2.47-carat vibrant intense yellow diamond and a 4.04-carat D-color rock.
Rio Tinto also revealed the start of commercial production from the A21 underground section of its Diavik mine. The project received an additional $17 million for its development. In general, the A21 underground operation news is great for employees, partners, suppliers, and the local communities in the Northwest Territories, as it will ensure the continuation of operations until the mine’s eventual closure.
